Vol. 5 just came out 2 weeks ago, and Kadokawa has made NO STATEMENT about this Manga series being canceled.
According to Kadokawa, the Anime was canceled due to the author making some "racist statements" on social media towards Korean and Chinese people. I don't know what he said, but I'm pretty upset to hear it, as I've been to Korea and loved it; and, while I despise the Government of the PRC, I've never met a Chinese person with whom I did not immediately become friends.
So I think that's pretty fucked up.

Kadokawa has been slow-rolling their publications, ever since they had that big "cyber attack," and the author/mangaka has been in poor health since April of 2024. This has made the LN adaption take a while to publish, and has been difficult for readers to keep up... making the overall rating (in Japan) go down, because only "New" means "good" in Japan; if it isn't "New," it becomes "bad."
Yes, I think that mindset is idiotic, but it is the reason why we are seeing such a slow release schedule; the manga is no longer "new," and Kadokawa's slow release schedule causes people to forget about reading it... which makes it hard to publish, at all.
They may wrap this up in the next volume, they may do two volumes, the author may decide to kill it here... or they may all decide to do the Five more volumes it deserves!
My guess is that we will either see an "official" cancelation after two-to-five more chapters, or they will give it their all (ganbatte!) and throw out Twenty-One more chapters and give it a decent ending... but all my thoughts say it's probably the first option (only 2-5 more chaps?! ðŸ˜).
Yeah, it's possible they may shit the bed, and just call this chapter the ending... but they haven't said that they will; not yet, anyway; not while I'm typing this.
I really hope they don't.
I think Elrise/Arris/Elrize/Elize/Alrise/Aris/(stupid romaji! It's just) Alice deserves a chance to help this world smile.

Yep. I knew something was off when I checked that this series was labeled as complete and only had 38 chapters.
