I'd agree. I actually really like Yui a lot. She is probably the most mature of the group. She knows what she's talking about, here. Just because he made a promise doesn't mean he can keep it. Especially one from such a young age, with such a massive separation of time.

People and emotions change with time. Just because you thought you loved someone when you were about 5 doesn't mean you'll still love them the same after several years apart. Hell, even loving someone for a few years in the recent past doesn't necessarily mean you'll still love them if someone else crashes into your life before you can secure a relationship. And just because you think you hate someone doesn't mean you can't grow to love them later. This is the core of this story.

And Raku really does need to figure these things out himself. Being given answers just isn't the same as coming to the conclusions on your own.

It's kinda like what Shu was saying to Ruri during the search for her glasses: Sure, you could tell them they both have feelings for each other, but there's far more meaning in them working up the courage to confess on their own. And especially because Raku's heart isn't actually settled. If he was pushed prematurely into a decision then, he'd have regretted it for the rest of his life, and the one he would end up in that rushed relationship with might be able to see the remorse in him, too, making them unhappy, as well.

Also... I'm pretty sure I know what happened with the locket, now. And I should have had an idea when I saw the chipped key end: The missing chip is stuck inside the lock, and that's why it can't be opened with any key, now. She might have tried to open it with her key at some point when they were little before she left, and that's when the chip broke off. That's the 'object' that's been stuck in it that the locksmith uncle of Shu's mentioned.

One of the best parts of Yui, for me, is the fact she's making Marika so upset. Little shit has needed a reality check for about a decade. Her obsession over 5-year-old Raku and his supposed 'ideal girl' at that time has been extremely unhealthy. Putting on a mask like that to try and win someone's love is just wrong. A 'love' built on a lie is a fragile love that will fall apart.
