Grinding up and consuming mummies was one of the more macabre examples, but there's a shockingly long history of Egyptian relics and iconography being seen as magical. As early as the Roman period, even the clerics and priests no longer understood hieroglyphs and saw them in the same way as Catholics would later treat Latin scripture. We know this because of numerous grammatical errors and repetition when they were redrawn in this period. Far outside of Egypt and centuries later, hieroglyphs would continue to be seen as magic runes, carved into thunderstones and weapons.

So long, thanks for all the fishes. Wish I can contribute, but I can't, so here's hoping another group will pick it up, it's undeniably a good series, but won't appeal to most of the young ones. Thank you for translating as much as you've thus far.

There might be more financial support for the manga if the end card was instead instructions on how people can purchase raws directly for you (and some means of coordination so there aren't duplicates). Throwing money into a PayPal/patreon/etc. always feels like a gamble, and it's not unheard of for people to donate to support a particular manga translation, only for it to be dropped/delayed/etc. and/or get used on something else.

It's certainly more hassle and effort to get that set up than a donation link, but it might be enough for some wary folks to feel confident they're actually going to get what they're paying for.

so far it feels like no matter how Ken tries to change history, it's still heading to the "correct" path

Yeah, I get that it would be hard to make a complete alternate history, and that the author also wants the manga to be a sort of history lesson, but I really hope that Ken will be able to make an actual difference in the end (especially with how random Mitsuhide's betrayal feels in the context of the manga's narrative), and that the story won't just end with him recovering his memories and being magically teleported back to the present by some plot convenience.

I have not read ahead, but it feels like it's going end as history knows it, but Nobunaga actually escapes with Kicho and disappears to live out the rest of their lives traveling the world.

Yeah, and this is the reason why I'm so wary to throw my money into the ring. Especially since there's a Patreon with a 100 dollar tier which, and while I know labor costs are a thing and scanlators shouldn't be expected to do everything for free... as far as I've seen it the entire manga has been translated "for free" with the final barrier being 20-25 bucks worth of raws which is absolutely nothing and I'd even be glad to front that if that's the final cost, but I'm not paying a dime unless I get confirmation the raws are the final checkpoint here. That and it feels like if I were to retroactively apply an actually reasonable cost to each chapter the translator has graciously done for us, it'd be in the thousands, and not a single person in any world would ever pay that much for a fan translation. To say nothing of how this manga is VASTLY underappreciated and absolutely nobody will pick it up, and even if someone did it'd be garbage MTL's, and the translator has been working on at least half if not the entire series through different groups up to this point. From what I understand this is THE translators passion project, and to see it dropped while some trashy isekais (and an actually interesting looking MMA manga) keep going feels like a major confusion of priorities.

If it's dropped, it's basically dead as a translation, and right in the final stretch too. It sucks, but nobodies going to pay unless they know "how much it's going to be to save it from the dead".

Things would definitely be easier if they gave a solid number, rather than just saying "I need money", yeah. I'd be more willing to give money if I knew what the end goal was, rather than just sort of tossing money and hoping for the best.

not the raws, they need to pay the typesetters, 3$ per chapter. So it would be like $150 for the remaining.

I guess all the hundreds of other groups and thousands of people over the last two decades who did scanslation as a hobby for free should have been asking for money. It's almost like they knew they didn't have the rights to the works and couldn't do that without looking shady as fuck or something.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to think now. I've been donating for a few months at least and know for a fact that other people have been donating as well. Yet every now and then we get these "there has been ZERO support" notes, while I'm getting private messages asking me to donate more than the non-zero amount I have given. Now, I'm grateful for the translator's hard and excellent work and while I can believe it's genuine worry for a passion project, you can't deny that this panic and urgency near the end can also look sketchy. I agree that it would help to just get a solid number to contribute towards, and if the donations aren't enough to complete the whole thing this month, wait until people get paid and can donate again.

If you can post proof of the transaction or PM's I'd love to see it, because if it's just a scam that changes everything in my other posts.
