is it that embarrassing? other than being 'loose'/a size up and like a 'sleep in shirt', i'd just think it'd be just a normal sports jersey. Unless JP teens/young adults don't dress like that outside of going to sports games bc/ no one here looks twice if you're just wearing a local sports team and sweatpants (unless they're one of /those/ fans that get personally offended if you don't root for the same team)

LOL i know there might be a trend of like 'tacky on purpose' but it's still something they got at a store (unless it's implied it was a thrift store and something donated five years ago), but it's not as if it's something clumsily hand sewn by her (tho that'd be cute/endearing too), tho if it was something 'fashionable' i can imagine it being the opposite way like "Why don't you /always/ dress this 'sharply'?"

I just realized what's the issue just now, while reading through everyone's answers.
