So by giving birth they lose their magic, and the daughter has no guarantee of being a witch? Damn.
Also, if you assume they can give birth to boys too, no wonder they were pushed into a corner.
The question would be, can one witch give birth multiple times and each daughter has a chance? Or the magic transferral is lost forever after the first child?

I mean, not like it's an enviable existance, but if they can... Once a witch decides, or is selected, to have a child, she "just" to keep pumping out babies.

it's probably rape or something about her father. Either way explaining someone else's trauma is bad form.

I feel it could be remedied a bit if they could just make their own community away from the church

If they could find enough adult men not indoctrinated to hate them and willing to live with them long term(as in husband and wives, or like enough trade partners) the demographic pressure wouldn't be as much of an issue because the husbands would probably help defend their wives and the boys raised by witches would probably not take kindly to the church teaching them their mother and sisters are evil.

But it doesn't seem like it's something very likely to happen in this world(plus it's probably a harem series where he will help "repopulate" and defend them
