Thanks as always for the translation!

Part of the escapism here is living in a media industry where two journalists can, apparently, get paid to work full-time on food-related stunts and pat life-lessons (do they even write anything?), but the author made it a little too real here - what the hell do they actually contribute to the bottom line?

Every once in a while, we see snippets of Kurita or a begrudging Yamaoka doing work outside the Ultimate Menu. It can be assumed they're still contributing articles to the paper when we're not looking.

Even before Yamaoka and Kurita were drafted into the Ultimate Menu project in the first chapter, Kurita had daily tasks to do, even as a new employee (and Yamaoka was surely as well, though we don't see it since he's a lazy oaf).

This way, it's safe to say that they both still have other tasks to do (both on- and off-screen) outside the project — the project surely can't be their only work, after all.
