I wonder if Rosanjin sukiyaki would match the tastebuds of today's Japan, even the gourmands.
From the video reviews I've seen, most people would enjoy Rosanjin sukiyaki. It does look more refreshing than the standard sukiyaki or shabu-shabu.
That said, it's worth noting that the opinion Kaibara presented in this chapter seems to be a parroting of Rosanjin's own opinions, and may not fully reflect the opinions of the Japanese populace. There are still a lot of people who enjoy standard sukiyaki and shabu-shabu, gourmand or otherwise.
I've had both sukiyaki and shabu-shabu, and I find both to be delicious.
