Oof, I really like this author but I feel this points out why this manga had a short (axed?) run. Chapter seems as if the author just filled a page quota for their current deadline and were done for the day. No meddling new characters, no conflicts, no shenanigans with the basket to risk her identity being exposed, etc.

Bro it’s slice of life, that’s what the genre is for. To be cute and funny and comfy.

Even published weekly, 34 chapters would be like 9 months with allowances for a couple of weeks off. That's a pretty solid run for a lot of titles. Survivorship bias just makes us think that the norm is a perpetual serialization that runs for multiple years.

And to be fair sometimes the stories lend themselves to short runs. I've enjoyed quite a few series that were only 3-4 volumes long. They don't drag out the story with unnecessary drama or perpetually blue ball the readers with relationship progress.

Just to clarify for the discussion, this manga was monthly but released 2 chapters at a time.

3 volumes is a common number for axed manga, and it's also what I hear most trial runs last for, so I get why some people think this was axed.

Without spoiling, I can say the ending of this is conclusive and satisfying as far as the main plot goes. It could have gone longer for sure but even if this was an axed case it's definitely on the better side imo.

tf kinda store is that? does japan also pull that "well it's private property so owner can do anything" bullshit?
I’m assuming the face covering is a sort of general rule to discourage hoodlums and petty thefts. Unless you mean the two hours closing time.

From manga I’ve read, some cafes will break for a lunch period while the employees break to eat and adjust the menu. And if it’s a single person who owns and runs the convenience store, maybe they break for two hours and don’t have employees to fill in.

Yeah, this sign in some form is basically at the entrance of every single convenience store. Pretty sure it's just a policy nation wide at convenience stores. (It's fine to wear masks since they don't cover your entire face.)
