"Quenching is the basis of steel"
Me: (screams internally)
No. No it's not. Iron and carbon are the basis of steel. Hell, depending on what application the steel will be used for, quenching isn't even necessary. Quenching is only a part of heat treated and most of the time it has to be tempered afterwards because quenching makes it too hard. You know what else is hard? No not that. Glass. Glass shatters because of its hardness. So will steel if it's only been quenched. Just ugh. A constellation of steel, it's soul purpose for existence, knows nothing about steel! It hurts my brain and my craftsman's spirit
