Fruits and vegetables are expensive in Japan and 120 yen for a sweet potato is pretty "cheap" for a big store like the one I assume they went to.

Japan's fruit/vegetable farmers are politically influential and they made it almost impossible to import into Japan. Combined with the limited space for growing and the cultural practice of highly expensive gift fruit, you end up with generally high prices.

If you want cheap (in Japan terms) you have to find the small mom-and-pop grocery stores.

It hasnt even been 10 chapters and its pretty clear they were attracted to eachother in their alter egos. The wait on this series is painful only getting half a chapter every few weeks so it may feel like its been longer, but they havent even really gone out yet.
