Jesus Christ, the dude's legit suicidal, there is a sad as fuck undertone beneath the funny haha hijinks in this story.

He would have hanged himself had it not been for his mind reading power.

Makes me wonder if this power was given to him by some sort of divine being to save him from killing himself.

I don’t think he’s that bad yet, going from his thoughts. He’s EXTREMELY socially awkward and anxious, not isekai happy. Although I was worried about that at first too.

on a much less serious note, it looks like childhood friend will be winning the “What Women Want” bowl. Which is kind of sad, I wanted “ara ara” neighbor to get it at least once. Or a few times first…

The fact there's a whole forest dedicated to suicide is absolute asscheekums, I wonder how that "tradition" started. Maybe something like an urban self-fulfilling legend?

It's supposedly associated with spirits of the dead; it's probably as you said and after someone got the initial idea, it snowballed as word of mouth/news coverage spread as people started hearing about it.

Apparently the forest was associated with death long before if became a frequent suicide spot. An old mythological tradition called ubasute, in which the elderly or infirm were carried into the wilderness to die so as not to be a burden on their families, was claimed to have been performed in the Sea of Trees as far back as the early Edo period. No concrete proof of that though.

Rather than feeling free, he actually thought about ending it all... the confrontation with his now ex-gf was not cathartic at all for him because he actually loved that girl for real. It broke him to know the allegations were true.

Haruka Oono seems to be a decent choice along with Akari, while miss waitress Saki only seemed to want a taste of him, but we'll see. Would be crazy if there are actually no sane, good girls in his vicinity and they all have some dark and filthy secrets as bad as his ex-gf does...
