lol if anything i'd want the opposite, a quiet low key job where you're not crowded by ppl sounds ideal but i'd imagine he'd still do research/apply on his own versus expecting an introduction, unless it's so 'competitive' these days in japan you'd need an acquaintance to 'vouch' for you
