I'm conflicted.
On one hand, he obviously gave up on their relationship and should understand the consequences for doing so.
Yet on the other, she would have never grown as a person without this experience, because her previous ignorant life was bliss.
Maybe he is now attracted to her new independent, confident self, and was tired of her previous complacent one. You can also argue that perhaps he should have been more willing to work things out and told her he feels that it might be good for her to start exploring her own life too.
I definitely don't think him hitting her up after makes him look good, I think he should cut his losses and look for someone else. There are a lot of fish in the sea. Yet 5 years is nothing to scoff at either... love ia complicated
