These "Procrastination Campers" is a term dubbed by the mangaka himself which refers to the people who said that they wanted to pick up camping during the pandemic but never got around to it for one reason or another. During this time, people were stuck home or had to observe social distancing rules where they were advised to stay home unless they needed to go out, and camping became a very, very popular hobby. A lot of youtube creators made solo-camping ASMR vlogs (you can find one of these from chp.44's discussion thread, first vid) and the (un)fortunate timing of the cute camping girls from 'Yuzu Camp' anime did not help either.

Oof owie I feel called out by this chapter :< I too have been hoarding "wilderness survival stuff" for my entire life despite never being out camping (ofc no tent, either)

Yuru Camp is so good but also contributed to the issue, I had to be escorted out of camping sections of the store by friends

Looks like there's a little bit of Miyamoto in all of us... Somewhere next to a little bit of Numakawa

It's funny you should mention this. I bought a chestbag recently and filled with EDC (everyday carry) gear. I got myself a pen-light with a laser, a utility knife, powerbank, a credit-card sized ruler with a magnifying glass in it. Still trying to think of things to fill it with.

Having a couple of bandaids and allergy pills or stuff for food poisoning (or some mild painkillers if you can get them over the counter) never hurts! Depends on how big the bag is of course, but you pretty much have all that you might need

I went camping a lot as a kid, so I think for me it doesn't have either the nearly mystical allure or the intimidation factor it has to first-time campers. I'd like to go again sometime as an adult, but it isn't a huge priority. I love Yuru Camp but I know it won't go down exactly like that lol. Season 3 soon!

There's a movie I saw at the Toronto Film Festival last year, Evil Does Not Exist by Ryusuke Hamaguchi that focuses on a potential campsite opening up in a rural community during the Japanese camping boom. When it finally gets a wider release, I highly recommend it.

Also, re: the everyday carry bag, if you carry a few tampons you may someday be a HUGE hero to a woman in distress.

Love that Ootski treats Miyamoto like a weird little brother he has to guide with his worldly wisdom, when the guy is technically still his overseer from a hyper-evil finance conglomerate that kills people with gambling.

My dad used to take me out camping, and had me and our cousins set up the whole damn thing, since it felt like homework i developed a distaste for camping, and it wasn't even nice homework, i genuinely think he enjoyed messing with us

Ugh...yes. My mom's the same where she finds happiness in other people's suffering. Can't choose our parents.
