There's the existence of a "score based system" which some men and women use when approaching their relationships. 100 is the highest 0 is the lowest, and people evaluate their partners by adding points if they do something good or have positive aspects about them, and vice versa. Awwww what a wonderful chapter! Makita-san is so very wonderful - he's educated, a loving father, and goes out of his way to help people that most of his co-workers actively look down on. What a precious guy.

nice game club avatar~ i love that series so much
i like chapters like this that highlight some of ootsuki's more atypical qualities... i think often he's written such that we can project ourselves into him, an everyman who loves every pleasure in life, but he's actually kinda weirdly singular in how much he prioritizes living like that.
I actually just reread his arc in Kaiji last night. It's so jarring LOL, he's such a scumbag in the OG series. I think now he's probably pretty 1:1 with the author's personality, but I like this weird blend of a person the whole project has resulted in.

Makita has a fiery heart when it comes to the details, huh. I think it comes from a good place but I'd cry if he was my dad and I had to do math drills with him LOL But then as an adult I'd look back on those memories as times when my father was doing his best to help me...? Or something...?
