Oh man. Those parfaits look good but that price would also deter me from them. Guessing they're made of those super fancy fruits. An ad for 'Fruit Parlor Takano' in Shinjuku.

Yep i was feeling like getting a sundae for myself, you know it makes me wonder why the Japanese obsess so much with whipped cream based desserts when ice cream is so much betterDamn.. Now I kinda want a banana split.
My guess is because the shop's in Shinjuku it would drive up the prices. Tourists spending their money here would probably be ok for them considering the exchange rate currentlyOh man. It's the price of milk. The US subsidizes keeping the cost low for everyone while NZ and Aus has their 2 main supermarkets designate loss-leader prices to it. When I was living in Asia they would be charging 2x the price of the milk I could buy back home. I usually ate "milk desserts" there because real ice-cream would bankrupt meYep i was feeling like getting a sundae for myself, you know it makes me wonder why the Japanese obsess so much with whipped cream based desserts when ice cream is so much better
Do they make it different over there? or is it about cutting cost? i think the biggest offender is some of the fruit cakes which are like 90% cream and then some fruits and syrup
Why is Isawa cosplaying as a blacksuit tho?
Oh yes, I remember you mentioning this. I believe the cherry blossoms bloomed way ahead of schedule a few weeks ago because of unknown reasons (climate change) 🤔I've been to Japan a few times, but I've never indulged in one of these fancy fruit parfaits... I'm going again in a couple weeks, though, I think it's time to take the plunge
yeah, we completely misjudged when we'd have to go to see cherry blossoms. oh well, way less crowds this way (although there'll still be crazy crowds lol)Oh yes, I remember you mentioning this.
