Wow-ee. In terms of text and content it's like having three chapters in one. Vol.13 closes with this chapter and it might be my favorite one yet.
Dating apps in Japan. Yes, there's Tinder for the visitors and foreigners in Japan wanting some action. Then there's more serious ones where the ultimate goal is marriage. It's free for women to join, while men have to pay a monthly or yearly fee. Some of them also work in a way where men can't message women - the women have to start the conversations first. After doing a bit of research online, some of them even have freemium features where you hoard 'points' over a few weeks by participating on the platform, signing in, doing tasks, etc. and then using it all on perks so you can maximize your chances in getting matches.
As for this chapter, I scoped out his Twitter a few months ago and his banner was him sitting down at a beach watching his son play in the sand. Looks like he's had a rough one when it comes to dating, but it seems that it turned out OK for him in the end.

Chapters like this, seeing how much Kimura has gotten his shit together, how he's progressed in life, give me a really bittersweet feeling. How he lost a quarter of his life underground for the (using the same numbers given on the second arc and current exchange rates) relatively miserable sum considering it was 20 years of slavery of about $12000.
Makes me wonder why he couldn't have been like this from the beginning, but I guess the reason he's like this now is because of that to begin with.

Kimura moved and his path no longer meets her shop? we never even see him talk to her beyond the bare minimum required for customer and clerk interaction? just because she was first girl doesn't means she was "first girl"? Miyuki is technically the real first girl for having an actual name? he has been meeting other women for several chapters?

Bruh it's a shame Kimura probably isn't allowed to tell his tale of the underground indefinitely upon release. If I matched with him and found out he went through all that to honestly repay his debt and built an admirable life back up - honestly, is there actually a better husband you'd want? Besides it would mean having the other four entertaining dorks in the house on occasion
