"Young Magazine" is the weekly magazine which this manga is serialized in. The release schedule for Foreman used to be once every 2 weeks at its peak, but now comes out around once a month 😓
It's currently the 6th most popular manga mag in Japan, eclipsed by Shonen Jump which outsells it by 7~8x. This is the magazine which Kaiji and Akagi appeared in I believe.

I love the little mentions of Higanjima. I've read it, and it's... well, it's a lot more beloved in Japan.

I love these moments where Ootsuki fails and, and even if the original idea was just a way to make money, the frustration just leaves him wanting to do the thing legit for the sake of proper and earnest success.

As sad as it is, I didn't really expect them to succeed... But at least they're not discouraged. That aside, it's absolutely impressive how the two of them work what was it, 12-hour shifts? Then have to organise the rest of their squads and THEN have the strength to draw and edit manga? Wow.
Sickeningly inspirational chapter

Oh yeah, I checked out a few chapters in its numerous series. Damn...the readership fell off, but I suppose people got bored with the kids on the island

Yeah, I like how Ootsuki doesn't just win all the time. Nerfs were needed

Hey that's me translating this manga on a weekday evening. My brain's jelly after a day of work and I have to turn on JP-mode. I feel better on weekend mornings right after I wake up. That's when all the good translations come

this chapter really reminded me of things i appreciate in the manga industry... like yes, creators often work outrageous shifts to the detriment of their health, but that's true of a lot of jobs in japan lol. not that that's a good thing, but when your options are slaving to death anonymously for some random finance company and slaving to death bringing your artistic vision to the world, manga really isn't so bad?

also, i just love that the industry is set up that a 42 year old man who spent the last ??? years literally underground can pop up and get an appointment with a major manga publisher and have their work read and assessed by a professional editor. there really isn't any equivalent in other artistic industries, where you basically have to be well-connected or lucky to get any opportunity. via this opportunity, there's thousands, maybe tens of thousands, of manga artists across japan that are making decent livings just drawing comics for different magazines week by week or month by month. i think that's beautiful.
