A theory I've had is that the mangaka sees a lot of himself in Ootsuki. In this chapter, Ootsuki finds himself to be very burnt out and I feel like the same goes for the mangaka judging from the filler chapter
Cafes and coffee-shops in the countryside, especially those where they don't get a lot of customers, seem to be breaking even in terms of finances. They'll spend the entire day there watching TV and their kids will be there doing their homework and stopping to serve the customers as waitstaff. Sometimes the owner and their families live above the shop so the shop rent and housing costs are combined, and other times they could have bought it in the 80s/90s when prices were cheap so they're sitting on this low upkeep piece of property. Some shops are modernized with terminals, smart lighting and aircon, while others will keep the old aesthetic of being a "
Showa spot" with old furniture, cutlery and atmosphere.
Chapter title: "Meandering". 流浪: vagrancy, wandering, nomadism. I think we'll go with meandering because Ootsuki wanders around with no real destination, and spends a lot of time taking in the sights and sounds of the small town in order to clear his head.
