That was a great use of a weapon that was used before to no effect. Proper set up with characterisation of elf as a species making it still work within the rules set when the weapon was previously used. But wouldn't causality try to bend rules again to return to it's new creator? I guess the actual creator knows causality much more thoroughly to understand the extent of it's power and how to limit it

Bastard used casuality by writing with it but the other fairy only put it on her back so maybe she can use it differently

The way my brain connected the dots was she somehow implanted the idea of her creation into his mind and he crafted it or they crafted it together and she somehow made him forget. Regardless, they both injected some of their magic into it and were both technically the owner. I think if she left him alive, he would still have partial ownership of it and it would eventually distort her version of the world to seek him out.
