Edit: Hold on, the world hasn't noticed parasitic, fatalistic super spirits eating people...because they then assume their identity? Well thank The Good Lord that no psychologically defunct host activated their shinki and got eaten in public throughout the years. Lucky us! Also what was the positive change that encouraged Shinki use? People don't just drop a stigma just because and this seems like a pretty good one to have.
