There are so, so many ways you could still try and work around that restriction. Talking about technology and tactics, asking MC questions that don't make sense unless you already know something, attempting other forms of communication, pointing at existing literature on other worlds, breaking the definition of "secret", etc.

Nope, not just you. If it was consistent she'd be able to purge the magic from that circle with basically zero effort. Though to be fair, if she does that it would look bad on her because it would seem like she wanted to share state secrets, so there's at least a headcanon justification for it.

It might be an active versus passive thing? Like passive mana can be purged but active spells either can't or are much more difficult? But then the author should have used different words in that case, so the confusion is understandable.

Since it is stated several time, that she uses her magic on herself without any input from her side, I would exclude that logic. But active vs passive magic sounds possible.
