That's a good question...I wonder if they will even survive, at this point (I don't know it yet). Certainly they don't have any boats capable of reaching mainland Japan, at least for now, as we saw in volume 1. Maybe in the next volumes our heroes will try to build better boats, and they will be able to get to safety. However I think most of islanders won't survive.
