Every time he goes solo, every action he takes are dumb af like minotaur should've died already if he just snatched the axe in the first place after he pushed it to get impaled but nooooooo gotta stretch the story for some stupid dumb fucking reason.

iirc, it was explainded on earlier chapters, but i believe it means that his current lvl is 9 in this try, while his total lvl is 38 combining all the others times he died
Honestly my guess is that levelling up has diminishing returns past certain and that's what makes the level reset useful even if the threshold keeps increasing, or maybe achievements can be gained through defeating enemies with a higher level difference, idk man, I'm just trying to guess what the cheat is
