This is not a scans group, per se, as much as a scans project.
By which I mean, we're taking the 'open source' approach to scanlations: Everyone is invited to see every step of what we're doing, and is free to chip in at will, and contribute back.
The goal is to leverage the huge community of manga (and novel, anime, etc.) fans. We don't ask for great skill, we just ask for a bit of motivation. We also don't ask for commitment; you're free to pitch in anywhere you want, and then disappear if you decide you don't like it. I specifically want to emphasise, with this, that there's no harm or shame in trying. You might turn out to be really talented, or just really enjoy it and be happy to put in time to gain lots of experience.
As such, this project is not expected to have a regular crew of workers, and with that comes high potential for miscommunication and things falling through the cracks. So the tradeoff is that there will be need for a relatively strict structure to ensure that doesn't occur, but without restricting each person's work preferences. A fine line to be walked, and ideas are welcomed; even management is open-source.
