Unless somehow the matter of these weapons will become a key element of the story and tie back to the original issue of the plot, such as the disappearance of the MC's partner and the heroine's backstory and key in to the downfall of her father.

I mean, for the MC's partner, it's pretty clear that he didn't disappear, he's just dead. MC buried him and everything.
