This chapter made me realize that this manga is primarily not about a genderbent kid, but about regretful stuff you did in early childhood that keeps tormenting you and prevents you from living your life to its fullest.

I get that this started off with manga medical gender shenanigans, but it’s a subversion of that trope. It takes it seriously for once, and has the character say “I like this better” and shows the consequences of that.

This is a few large and many tiny changes from stuff that happens every day, just one happening all magically and before the internal struggle instead of after.

Im not trying to come off as a lecturing pretentious ass, I just speak like an encyclopaedia. If one can hear me speaking in person, they can gather my intent from my wild gesticulation and shifts in tone and volume.

So Akira cares because not a lot of ppl know about Kikuchi's past mistakes. And he has really evolved to be a better person and got himself a good reputation in middle school.
Shion just found out about Kikuchi's previous conflictive nature and took a photo that made him look like he was apologizing about shoplifting. If rumors were to spread, that'd be pretty bad for Kikuchi.

Yeah I've been hoping for this for ages, so many things keep pointing to it (like the jealousy) but then other things come up or it veers away or just doesn't address what it brought up. So there's just been a slow build up of things pointing to them and I'm spooked about whether it will actually go that way or not.

Yeah I've been hoping for this for ages, so many things keep pointing to it (like the jealousy) but then other things come up or it veers away or just doesn't address what it brought up. They haven’t seemed as close lately
She doesn’t seem to dislike a guy having a crush on her, and has intentionally spent time with him, recently.

For the first time in a long time it’s up in the air.
I’m here for it either way. A story about any kind of serious story with “was gender now is other gender” exploring any kind of human relationship from that angle is neat.
one reason I avoid most “a disease and suddenly” or “magically” stories is they don’t deal with the actual implications of it.

Their love interest will know them from before and sudden recognise them or know from the start and ”oh noes! now is attractive, shenanigans ensue, happy ending out of nowhere”.

I like that I no longer know for sure.
