If I recall correctly, what we've been told is that:

• She can't steal unique skills.
• The Hero's Potential skill can be taken from him and given to someone else.
• Her Skill Plunder skill doesn't work that way.

The conclusion I'd draw from that is that she knows some way that it could be done, just not with her personal skill. The King was very carefully choosing what was said during the trial.

Rather is the Hero's potential a unique skill? As special as it is, it is one that more than one have had. Unique skills are just that, unique, only a single person ever has each one.

We were told in Chapter 21 that Seacha had stripped Ares of the skill already. Unless the author is doing some real stupid hiding of information here, it makes the most sense to believe that Seacha used her plunder to get rid of it, and that her "it doesn't work like that" statement was about something else (like her aversion to using it due to her past), and not that it was physically not possible.

I assume that this means the hero aptitude isn't a unique skill, but it still feels really dumb to have Hero-ness stealable, and other skills not.

It actually makes sense. As @hevensdragon said, unique skills are unique; presumably in the sense that they only ever exist once ever (as in, once MC dies, Full Auto Buff will never appear again).

Meanwhile, we're told specifically that Hero's Potential has appeared throughout history; ergo, while there may only be one person who can hold it in a given age, it's not truly unique, so it can be stolen.

At least, that's my take on it.

It was said when the 'Hero's Potential' was first explained that it's not a 'Unique skill' it's a 'Rare skill', the last time someone was confirmed to posses it was 300 years or so before.
