Well in the raw he just says "アジア語?" which just means "Asian (language)?". He knows which it is, obviously, but I couldn't think of a good way to convey his noting it's not written in English with such a short sentence.

How about departing a little from the original phrasing, then? I don't know, would something like 'Asian writing, huh?', or 'Bunch of Japanese jibberish...', or even 'It's all damned moon runes.' work here?

If I were the type to deviate from the dialogue, I'd go with this one. The others are denied categorically.
