The premise is cute, but I fear her "not gonna tell him and pout rather than have any discussion" gimmick is gonna get old real fast.

And, considering he didn't know she was an elf when they were younger, his awkward stoicism makes sense. He assumes his love is dead, so all he has is the mission.

That's not to say he won't end up being frustratingly dense too... Just that he gets a pass for now.

I'm glad he isn't squirming in his seat because he hasn't spoken to women, but rather people as a whole but... he wasn't a shut-in.

Yeah, he didn't leave the temple so he is one in that sense, but he was training with many other people for many many years and had plenty of social experience with them - he could only be considered an asocial shut-in during the period all the other hero trainees were dead and he was left alone.
The series is making it out that he hasn't spoken to anyone for 50 years or so.

On another note, I feel like it's been ages since I've last thought that a Japanese MC deserves their incredible strength and abilities. Lately, so many characters just 'receive' their powers, through barely any effort (if any) of their own, while the world bends over backwards to tell the MC how incredible they are.
I'm glad to finally see another actual hard working MC, even if their efforts have stopped after the opening section of ch.1, but that's how low the bar is, I guess?

I know it is fantasy but how is he still alive & not decrepit after training 100 years as a human? They didn't state if the training will allow you to outlive a human's natural life cycle or the training site slows down your aging as the word's time moves on. Besides that, I do hope he'll realize who she is before the joke gets stale. Thanks for the translations.
