Plus they are teenagers and it’s their first time (ever, not with each other) so of course it’s something the characters will be self-conscious about and not dive right in. That’s a development to be expected when the MCs are not only virgins but MINORS.

Teenagers do have s*x but like… most of them are too self-conscious about it to do it head-first like many adults who want something casual do. And to society’s standards, that’s the last thing teens should be worrying about, even tho it’s hypocritical to say they don’t and shouldn’t think about such things.

I agree, this author has this habit of immediately correcting misunderstandings, and going against the trend of other authors of making sure that the heroines leave problems unattended by just not talking about it and running away. I, too, also believe that this won't be a problem for the couple since they are still both in HS and if it does follow up someday when one of them wants to get more intimate, it would be a surprise for me personally.
