This was more of a gut punch than I thought it would be. Kind of depressing that she wanted to trust Sensei (and Sachi) so much to believe an obvious lie for so long, one that even her sister saw through. Looking back, all the moments where we as an audience thought "she definitely knows" were really from the perspective of Sensei's paranoia about getting found out.

Ah yes, the classic "cartoonishly selfish and abusive parents/family" plot device to the rescue! Plot treading water? Relationships between characters stagnating? No obvious source of drama and conflict to make an arc out of? Story is too happy and you need some misery RIGHT NOW? Just add some piece of shit relatives to gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss your spineless and/or helpless protagonist into some ridiculous and convoluted scenario.

Not everybody who has issues communicating or socializing is on the spectrum, just as there are people who are on the spectrum that can communicate and socialize.

It's a spectrum for a reason.

Personally, I have issues communicating in person, do a bit better over voice (still have issues with my phone) chats but do better in text based communication.

I think it's just a family of quirky artists who have raised their daughter in such a way that she had to draw like her life depended on it, which is probably why she didn't enjoy doing it.

(Also, to most, just questioning if a character or individual is on the spectrum, is autistic, has autism... or any other kind of mental disorders or disabilities is generally not offensive.. it's the comments like "haha what an autist" that people make when they as a reader get the information the author provides but can't understand why a character the author created doesn't understand a situation)
