Is this series still getting published in english after 'that' happened? And is it still popular in Japan? I doubt it'll be popular again in the english speaking world, like it was before.
I still really like this series though, death of the author and all that.

Also really weird that a teacher at any school outside of a Catholic one would dress up like a nun as their daily wear, outside of Halloween season. She looks cute, but still feels weird.

Probably not, unfortunately. Seven Seas, the original English publishers, dropped the English Volume 6 from their upcoming releases after the whole Germany Trip Incident resolved and the date they originally had it releasing on passed by. Considering they've said nothing since then, I doubt they're going to pick it up with with new one finally out.
I'll never be able to not love this series, since Galko has been my Waifu4Laifu ever since the anime dropped, but it's really hard to have the same joy with it ever since then.
