The beginning reminded me of another manga... I think it was a shoujou about an overweight otaku girl who grieved so hard from her favorite anime character dying that she ends up losing weight and becoming a beauty.

That aside, I thought this one was okay, but missing something even as a one shot.

Slam Dunk!, Kuroko no Basuke, and Ahiru no Sora... I'm always looking for more basketball manga on that level.
