That was pretty sad.. I just wish we could have read the end bit a bit better.. I understand why it's like that.. but still.
Could only make out a bit of it.. Was kinda hoping he just had troubles sayin' it, y'know, kinda like a stutter or somethin'.

It seems more like he has a compulsion to say everything is so-so, rather than revealing his honest feelings.
In their life together, I don't think the wife would misunderstand her husband, and know what he really meant.
So the sad ending isn't so much that the wife died misunderstanding (because she wouldn't have), but that the husband didn't truly get to say what it was he wanted to say until it was too late.
