I get his personal reasons for wasting talent and all, but chill out.

I guess one of the reason why Grid was angry is because he once was a man with no talents and have to overcome obstacles with his persistence and mentality. Seeing someone having great talents and desire to be the best in something, only to hear them giving up and changing their paths probably disappoints Grid a lot. Grid probably thinks he just gave up too early or going in the wrong ways. But what I love about his rage is that it shows how much care and trusts he has for Piora. He has dueled with him before, he has been taught by him, he knows his skills and definitely has faith that Piora is definitely going to become a sword saint.
