Plants actually do have these "screaming" pain alarms that trigger when you cut into them. They're not delivered usually through sound but stuff like hormones, scents and secretions. You're just not aware of them and don't know how to listen or how interpret the signals they give out. The next time you go out there and mow your lawn, rip off a wayward branch or use cut on a bush, stop for a moment, take in the fresh smells in the air - those are the screams of the masses of vegetation that you trampled underfoot for simply existing inconveniently in your way.
