It's so interesting that the fascist fetishisms of war are still prevalent in Japan despite it being a miltarily neutered nation. However it's colonialist history is at a juxtaposition as one of the most neo-colonized countries in the modern world. Despite this it retains it's strong nationalism and xenophobia. As desire becomes algorithm in a neoliberal mediascape, the viscera and primitivity of war recalls a freedom from feedback, a plateau of non-image; pure sensation. This is precisely why Mishima remains one of my favorite authors despite us being so diametrically opposed politically. Maruo seems to carry the same oedipal fascination with violence, especially with it's patriarchal nature.
