You did not just say that. I know plot armor beats death flags but I feel like that's already a bad omen in and of itself if he's going to confess like I think he will. I feel like just by saying it chances actually increased that he won't be able to, maybe due to crap like abduction or amnesia (I sure hope not).
This attack is likely a conspiracy with the abnormal enhancements on the monsters. How dumb would it be if it was orchestrated by the local guild master to... get Raust? Surely it's not that simple right?
