Persephonia regeneration isn't particularly fast enough to keep up with their desire to eat flesh, as we have seen our Persephonia eating an entire person until she regenerates. If they have the ability to metabolize any raw meat, then the entire series would have worked on controlling primal desires. But apparently, they're quite literally programmed to eat humans in general, and any other meat source is pretty much moot.

In Tokyo Ghoul, that is. I know that this series loans quite a bit from it (to a kind of silly degree at times), but making ironclad assumptions from other IPs purely off of similarities is never all that smart.
