I really hate how they treated newton in this chapter, especially with how gale was just able to smack him at close-range.

In his previous fight with pol pot it was established that close-range was where he had the sole overwhelming advantage, but now its suddenly no because 'he'll get caught up in his own gravity', and instead he has to throw his apples instead. It really feels like he got nerfed for no other reason other than to just glaze gale

No he was injured by Pol Pot's corrosion, not by his own gravity. The guy above has a point, it's weird now Newton could be caught in his own ability. Not to mention, why did he not fly like the time he was with Albert?

It’s implied that Nightingale is actually Daji the fabled nine-tailed demon fox that has bought several kingdoms to ruin in the long past. And of course having nine tails means being able to wield nine talents at the same time because why not.

First, it's always possible for a returner to have multiple talents. For example, Neumann, Caesar, Gale, etc.

Now about the Nine Tailed Fox (using Gale's name currently), she has 2 original abilities.

The first one is Monster's Hide allowing her to steal someone's life and storing them as her own. The max number is 9 times, and it's likely that the life stolen also includes the abilities of the original returners. It's also likely that the skill to control the bandage comes from this ability

The second one is Killing Mark, the ability to create and manipulate crystals that destroy anything they touch. It's also possible only someone killed by Killing Mark would become the life for Monster's Hide. Same mechanism for Touya's 2 abilities, one to steal and one to use.
