That's actually a very stupid move. Now she would see FL and her mother as real threats that needs to get rid off ASAP.
She's got a powerful magician/cat with her at almost all times though so a violent attempt on her would be great. She doesn't even need to look for evidence anymore. And it's harder to murder someone in a high security jail when the body snatcher needs to keep up a nice image.

Obviously not with such direct and simple attacks. What I meant was that she will scheme and move more carefully now that she knew that FL and her mother were suspicious of her. And she will prioritize getting rid of these known dangerous variables.

Not to mention that it's quite common in other manhwa for people to get assassinated in high security places so the mother is now in great danger. FL herself would obviously survive, but it'd much harder for her to gather evidence now, and her life and everyone around her would be in danger.

Yeah i gotta agree, she probably signed her mother's death warrant with that comment, if not now then later once elincia gets her own people.

On another note, this might be my favorite take on "emperor dad of switched at bith daughters" that i've read so far. He admits what he's done was neglect and doesn't try and shift the blame or pretend it never happened. Also he recognizes that philomel isnt his biological daughter but says he loved her as his own, and still does. A lot of manga/manhwa/CN's treat blood relation as paramount, where the missing daughter comes back and there's an instant connection with the family members, or the "fake" daughter either never bonded with family members (thats usually explained by having an 'outsiders' blood), or worse, the previously loved daughter is kicked out the door, as if those 15-20 years of affection meant nothing. Here the emperor states his love for the fake daughter as real and undiminished (which at least appears to be true), and treats the previously unknown biological daughter almost as a stranger (which she is). Even the way he worded it, "...if you hadn't brought her back i never would have known about her.." speaks more towards responsibility than some fantastical longing for his flesh and blood child. That could just be the translation team giving it added nuance (thank you for all your hard work, by the way) but this Emperor/Father character seems much more levelheaded and rational than many others i've seen.

I know its fictional and all, but what 16 year old with extreme daddy issues would be able to just coolly and calmly reject her father figure who is actively begging to be in her life
This isn't a reincarnation story, she is the ACTUAL philomel not a random korean from another world

its a lil silly, she sometimes believes the book like its gospel, then realises its not set in stone, then immediately forgets and thinks everyone's trying to kill her

She still lived for years thinking her father won't love her thinking he would kill her, it's quite believable that it hasn't sink into her heart yet that he does love her; she's in full denial.
It's actually more excusable because she's not a reincarnator who should be more logical in these kind of situations. Actual Philomel wouldn't be able to forgive him so easily like a reincarnator would.
