Just as I thought. The Heroine became more guarded and immediately schemed to kill the mother. Luckily she failed. And what did FL confronted her for? Just for simple affirmation of what she has already quite sure about.

If FL do more stupid things like this...

No more stupidity aside from stubborn denial over Emperor's kindness, please.

I understand Philomel's perspective, everyone around her growing up basically and or abused her. As a kid she never really got the affection and love she desperately needs for a child in their early years, Eustice needs to understand that he'll need to keep on consistently showing affection in order to just convince her that's not even mentioning trying to get her to accept him as her father figure which might not even be possible from how fundamentally different she views their relationships.

I bet the emperor always planned to cover up the mother's crimes, since pursuing it would make Philomel the daughter of a criminal, and thus unsuitable to stay in the royal family no matter what the emperor said. I am curious as to why he kept asking elincia if she was sure though; maybe he wanted to cover up the crime, but it would only work if elincia, the main 'victim', chose not to press charges? It would be nice if we could see a bit more into his thoughts.

Also, why is baby philomel so heartbreakingly cute? Just the image of tiny her politely asking the priest if she got her name in is almost too much! It's a wonder how everybody was able to be cold to her with that adorable face
