Eh, I get what they were trying to here to try to paint the girl as a super evil villain but I really can't let go of my suspension of disbelief here on blackmailing your own dad situation. Maybe season 2 will flesh it out better but my impression is less "omg this girl is so evil" and more "her dad is a pathetic".

If you're competent enough to become next presidential candidate and also you're willing and capable of murdering people I'm pretty sure you're also capable of suppressing media so that blackmail threat should barely hold. Also you should also be able to afford hiring a super chinese hacker to do whatever you want as a countermeasure as that has been established as a tactic in this universe (and you should have appropriate countermeasures in place since it's been previously established that the upper elite is capable of using super hackers to monitor/control data and communications).

It would just be easier to believe her dad is just fucked up and supports his daughter in doing whatever she wants to do rather that she's some super competent evil villain that is able to blackmail her dad and use him as her pawn. Only way to salvage this IMO is that the girl is actually lying about blackmailing her dad and she's only using this to make herself seem more evil/capable than she really is to control her peers.

It's always nice when parents support their kid's interests?

No? I said it's more believable that a fucked up dad produces a fucked up daughter than some high school girl is capable of blackmailing her dad (a dad who is competent enough to be in contention of being one of the most powerful positions in a country).

I was making a joke.
You made a good point about why she shouldn't be able to blackmail him and it makes sense so I was more going the route of him just playing along, seeing what she'll do, while having security in place to prevent her actually using it. Like how the main father has tainted people's phones so they can't share the video of his revenge on the siblings.
Ends up with him just willing supporting her while pretending he's under her power, like the vid of the tiger teaching the cub how to hunt via play and pretending the cub knocked him over. It's quite cute, if you haven't seen it (though it might've been a person and not a cub, was more focused on the big cat.)

(Should've either said more or pruned the quoted section.)
