In the interest of putting this discussion to bed, the server in question is for The Golden Orchid's translation of the series. Members of the server rely on getting pinged in the #updates channel to know when discussion about a new chapter will begin so that they can avoid the #pbmmv-manhua channel until they've read the chapter. Pings do not go out for other groups' releases, ergo any discussion of chapters that haven't been released by The Golden Orchid will spoil those members who've assumed all content will still be about previous chapters until they are pinged.

There is a separate anything-goes channel called #pbmmv-spoilers where conversations about the story beyond what The Golden Orchid has released take place. Hopefully this clears things up for anyone planning to join.
