I haven't really been a fan of Stewart from the start, but I'd forgotten that he's technically her uncle. Definitely tanked my opinion of him as a love interest. Hopefully the knight takes the lead, or maybe this earl they're introducing, but I don't have much hope considering how these stories typically play out

Everyone's focusing on Stewart being her uncle but I'm more upset about him being a possessive creep. Like I can forgive him causing her trauma (tbh she did it to herself more than anything) but what I hate is that he constantly asked her parents for her hand in marriage "day after day" sad the author. Never made any attempt to get to know her just straight to sell me your daughter. Then there's him sneaking into her room over and over again. On top of that when he does ask to visit, she declines so what does he do? Yup sneak into her room again. Oh yeah and when she almost got killed trying to help him he shouted at her, pinned her down and told her he'd lock her up after marrying her. Yeah dudes a creep. Oh and 3 of the 4 things I just mentioned happened in the last chapter.
I was ready to see her crowned and the manga axed, happy? to see that didnt happen I think.
Earl will probably be the love interest, cause theyre trying to set up Stewart but hes a scumbag.
Edit: on second thought, this IS a very standard shoujo so far so I guess we can't write him out yet

Stewart was fighting in full plate armor with Irvine several chapters back. To be able to do something like that, you need to have a very respectable amount of strength. Carrying a lady like that for a minute should be easily doable for him.
He is carrying her close to his center of gravity, not in a difficult to keep stance like on outstretched arms.

Fighting in a full plate armour and lifting someone isn't even close. The armour weighs maybe half of her weight, at most, and it's well-distributed on the body, much more significantly than he's holding her "close to his centre of gravity". That's much more about endurance than strength. Lifting someone, on the other hand, does require a respectable amount of strength.
However, that's irrelevant to the point I was making. Him saying she's heavy is perfectly reasonable, even if he can manage it.

Well, her grandfather the king had multiple wives, in Stewart's case his mother and the other two their fathers mothers, so they're all candidates as husbands of varying status.

Oh this is a pleasant surprise! I assumed the story had ended with the previous volume, guess I imagined a 'end' tag that wasn't there.
Having a future chapter named 'to war' in the table of content does wonder to build the mysterious earl as an ominous threat..

just binge read this, and chapter 10 feels like it's missing pages, it goes from them begging for the person in the hall to not open the door in chapter 9 to Cyan choking out the butler in chapter 10, with no in between

And the guy nearly twice her age (30), Irvine actively playing the stalking horse (wingman?). Guessing this pale slightly older (22?) nobleman is going to be the casual stalking horse.
Wonder what retcon \ flashback the author will throw in to give him a part relation to our Not-Queen. Helped save some orphan in a town she passed through, and encountered her?
