Never realised Roman shoes had spiked soles.

What was Felix selling when he’s opening business? The table seems to have holes for furnace inside or something like it.

He was selling food, probably. The place was a thermopolium, a roman food stall or fastfood restaurant.
Some shoes had spikes but not all. They were useful on grass or dirt but bad on stone or concrete pavement (I know, I am a reenactor/LARPer myself). Probably soldiers and travellers (or bandits) had those.
