Either point-gifting is well-known in this setting, or it isn't.
If it is well-known, then having one of them in a party doubles everybody's xp. It stands to reason that they would be valuable, and you'd want multiple point-gifters if at all possible. A guild without at least one would be seen as pathetic novices the same way one without a healer.
On the other hand, if point-gifting isn't well known, then it makes sense for the party to want to power-level him up quickly, just to see if he can amplify xp even further at high levels. Plus, that guarantees that their valuable asset doesn't get squished in combat, even if he's not going to be doing any fighting.
