While I enjoy the manga club I really wish that plotline would have just been Tasaki's thing. The idea of Kikuka making romance fiction about her brother is just weird and creepy and it's made any chapter about her and the other first years into meta humor which was already Tasaki and Tsukishima's thing. It's also kind of made Ririku irrelevant because she doesn't really fit into it and isn't connected to it beyond being Kikuka's friend which means she's just filling the same role that Poe filled when it would come up in the first year.

It's just kind of made a whole mess of characters redundant and absorbed ones who had more interesting things going on. Seta could have been fine as Kikuka's friend and Tasaki's kouhai/protege without Kikuka being in the club too. And then there's Kei who is maybe the weakest character overall. I guess we needed the obligatory "younger girl crushing on the male lead despite it being hopeless" character as part of the series' overall using/satirizing of romcom cliches but characters like that really never work.

We came for the main duo rom-com, and recently we got mainly others character's drama, it's not that they are uninteresting but I don't want drama.
Also, since vol.12, because of poor sell, the manga is only digital which could cause the author to lose motivation and impact his work.

Nah usually im fine with other characters getting their turns. Names are eluding me atm, but I like the health delinquent, dads, and librarian chapters (the latter of which got fucked over way too hard im still mad about that). But these manga chapters are so lifeless. They try to use it as a foil for other characters, but it just comes off as a bland and uncomfortable infodump.

I'd be more interested in her and Reiko's goofy rivalry than watching the first years work on a manga.

I will say that given all the other cameos in this series I fully expect that the guy who ends up judging Reiko's contest entry winds up being Kinata. We've already had Sesuji and Shudan cameos so Koganeiro is the only thing missing so far. Kinata's also the one character from it that hasn't shown up for a cameo in any of the other series yet but his goal in Koganeiro was to become a manga editor.

Shudan cameo was in the last one, the guy Ibuchi hangs out with is one of the MCs from that series and it also reveals that Nadeshiko is the cousin of another character from there. Sesuji was during the cultural festival when Shou and Akiko's rivals showed up.
