I would assume that it's because he was obviously betrayed by the kingdom too, so he hasn't got much to lose other than possibly declaring himself a Demon Lord instead, and it doesn't really seem to be his character.

It's also because I think she actually meant to provide that stuff going by her reaction ... but uh ... "didn't consider how to actually do that". That girl is not exactly the brightest light. So it was less malicious like the Kingdom and just because the kid is a little dumb.

I am assuming his old maid will join him after he thwarts her attempt at killing the demon lord after hearing his side of the story. She seems reasonable and most likely used her whole “I’ll kill him” thing to be able to get there…only thing I am not currently sure on is why she is attempting to kill Lilith, but I guess we will see in the next chapter.

The maid also seems devoted to him and he would love to have her there since he has thought about her AND wondered if things were bad for her because of him. Besides she seems to genuinely want to serve him.

As for his working conditions I would think she genuinely wanted to provide him a good and fair place to work but really didn’t think through how to make it actually happen…silly demon lord.

She does not know the Heroes that came after him straight out went to kill him on the Kings Order. So her Logic might be Kill the Demon Lord / free the Hero = Everything will be just fine

Or she's totally yandere and was fine with the status quo before because she was really the only person he could lean on and now that has been threatened.
